Jim Kimo West was my guest for Live Your Music this week!
I greatly enjoyed talking with Jim Kimo West about his new album Slackers in Paradise which is just being released today (Wednesday, October 5th, 2016). During the show, you'll get to hear the title track from the album!
When I think of the words Aloha and Mahalo, Jim Kimo West comes to mind. He is a wonderful example of the spirit of both words. Aloha is how Hawaiians say hello and is a warm greeting you hear over and over when you are on Maui or any of the Hawaiian islands. Mahalo is how they say Thank You.
Jim is fun as you can see in the album cover art that is the "photo" for today's show. I am feeling thankful for the fun I had hosting my show with Jim Kimo West today!

During the show today, we talked about why we love Hawaiian music and how it can help relax you while you are driving. It can also bring you back to how it feels to be on Maui or your favorite Hawaiian island. One of the things I love to do is to incorporate things that I love from my vacations into my regular life. Doing this helps bring back not only the happy memories, it also helps you enjoy your time anywhere you live.
I feel thankful to have met Jim Kimo West while we were on Maui in 2012. I am so thankful a friend took us to hear him perform in Napili. We talked about the Napili show today. Listening to CDs by Jim Kimo West brings me back to the feelings of joy from our family celebration time on Maui.
I'd love for you to listen to what Jim Kimo West had to say on the show today. I am also looking forward to hearing from you after you listen to the song from his new album. Known as The Angels’ Voice, Anna Grace Taylor is an Angel Therapist®, certified by Doreen Virtue, Theta Healing Practitioner®, singer-songwriter, motivational speaker and author who has been featured on BBC Radio, in the Wall Street Journal and with USA Today best-selling books.
Using her natural intuitive gifts, developed by years of training and experience, Anna connects with Divine love and guidance to support people with all aspects of life and acts as a catalyst for transformation for people all over the world.
Born eleven weeks premature and with Cerebral Palsy, Anna took her first independent steps at the age of six and had to learn to walk two more times following a major surgery and a long-term illness, both in her teens.
Sound and song therapy played an integral part in Anna’s recovery, and her innate love of singing inspired her to dream of recording her own CD. Her debut album Already Here was released after months of co-writing via email, and was made possible thanks to the generosity of hundreds of friends and supporters. Anna, whose voice has been likened to Canadian singer Sarah McLachlan, has since performed for international audiences, and recently began working on new music to be released later this year.

During the show today, Anna and I talked about Angels, and how to ask for help from the Angels. We also talked about inspiration, songwriting, singing, living your music, and how you can feel happier and more peaceful.
Anna talked about a new song she has written and recorded which will be released toward the end of October. It is exciting she has a new song coming soon!
I played a beautiful song by Anna titled Body which is from her debut album Already Here. The song is one of my favorites. For links to purchase her album through her website, iTunes, and/or CD Baby, click here.
As Anna mentioned during the show, she does weekly Angel readings that are available through her Facebook page: Anna Grace Taylor. Having never even seen Waikiki, Jim Kimo West went right to Hana, Maui in 1985 and spent much of his time there for many years. It was in Hana where he first heard the music of Gabby Pahinui, Sons Of Hawaii, Sonny Chillingworth and Atta Isaacs. Already familiar with alternate tunings, the sound of ki ho’alu (slack key) became his favorite soundtrack.
Jim Kimo West is a 2008 winner of the Hawaii Music Awards and two-time Na Hoku Hanohano (the Hawaiian ‘Grammy’) nominee. He is also a two-time winner of the LA Treasures Award for his efforts in keeping this important acoustic guitar tradition alive. He is a veteran of Hawaii’s famed slack key festivals as well as the So Cal Slack Key Festival.
Jim's numerous CD’s feature many original compositions as well as inventive arrangements of the genre’s classic repertoire. His latest release, Guitar Stories goes beyond slack key, exploring other genres like West African guitar, Middle Eastern Music and Americana.
Jim has also worked as a composer for film and TV for many years and maintains a sophisticated private studio in Los Angeles. His slack key compositions have been used in a number of features, TV spots, cable, web and in many documentaries.
Jim Kimo West's album Guitar Stories
Today Jim and I talked about his musical journey and what it's like to perform with Weird Al Yankovic on tour as well as performing on Maui and slack key guitar shows. Jim will also perform with Weird Al Yankovic at the annual Festival Supreme hosted by Tenacious D also featuring Flight of the Conchords. It's scheduled for October 29th at Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo Hall & Grounds at USC.
As we discussed during the show, Maui is a place where you feel love everywhere you go. We also talked about the words Aloha and Mahalo which you hear all the time when you when you are there. Gratitude is what Mahalo expresses. Being in touch with your gratitude reminds you to enjoy the beauty that surrounds you and the people you have in your life.
Following are some beautiful pictures Jim took on Maui. Listening to Jim's songs reminds me of being on Maui. I love to hear the music of Hawaii. If you do, or would like to, I highly recommend you listen to this interview and get one or more of Jim's albums!

I was inspired to have Paul back on my show to talk about his album Love Expanding Love. I've been listening to a song from it while I exercise and it makes me feel uplifted, inspired, and happy. The song is titled This Time and it has become one of my favorite songs!
Today I played a beautiful song titled This Time from Paul's album Love Expanding Love
Today Paul and I talked about the importance of being your self which is what the song is about – being who you really are inside. It took me until my 30s to even begin to know my self and as Paul said today, we all keep learning more about who we really are and what we're here to do as we live each year of our life.
Paul Luftenegger with Dr. Christiane Northrup.
I enjoyed hearing about Paul meeting Dr. Christiane Northrup and spending time with her in person and as a guest for her Hay House Radio show.
Dr. Northrup is inspiring and I feel lucky to have heard her speak at a couple of the the Hay House conferences. As Paul says, Dr. Northrup is truly an inspiration.
We also talked about Louise Hay having her 90th Birthday celebration in San Diego and Paul says he is super excited to announce that he's gotten his flights and will be there!
I would love to be there for Louise's 90th Birthday celebration on October 8, 2016. I love Louise Hay and it would be great fun to see Paul there and talk with him in person!
I BELIEVE IN YOU is a conscious song written and recorded by Paul Luftenegger to help the children, help the planet, and help the endangered species. The song begins with a reflective moment and is followed by soft piano and vocals.
Paul's Album Titles Include the Following: The Miracle of You Love Expanding Love Diamond Light Worthy Beautiful World / Blessings From Above

Robert Berry was my guest today for a special show of Live Your Music.
For a long time I've had people asking to know more about me and while it felt funny being the "guest" of my own show – with Robert Berry being the "host" asking me questions and making comments on what I had to say – it was fun!!!

For this special edition of Live Your Music, Robert Berry and I talked about how our beliefs really do create our reality.
The show takes you on a journey from the Summer of 1966 – 50 Years Ago – to Now, the Summer of 2016.
During the show you'll get to hear a beautiful new song by us, The DeNadors, titled BELIEVE. I wrote the lyrics, my husband Dudley DeNador wrote the music, and Robert Berry recorded the song and added his musical magic to it for us at his recording studio – Soundtek Studios in Campbell, California where our new song was "born" on 06/30/16.
Dudley watching as Robert Berry adds the keyboard tracks to our song BELIEVE.
During the show we talked about an event that happened 50 years ago and about the belief I lived with for a long time. We talked about how it was transformed from a limiting belief into the belief that I could do it.
I gradually began to believe my dream to sing could come true – thanks to the inspiration, beliefs, and encouragement I've gotten from my husband, Dudley, our son, Zander, and our talented friend Robert Berry.
Robert Berry adding the bass guitar track to our song BELIEVE.
Being at the recording studio with Robert and Dudley was so much fun!!! I was bouncing around all day. I felt so happy and had great time singing my vocal track for the song!!!
Robert Berry and me during the recording session for our song BELIEVE.

Robert Berry adding the drum tracks for BELIEVE.
The vocal booth at Soundtek Studios – where Robert recorded the vocals of Dudley and me for our song BELIEVE.
Dreams can come true!!! Sometimes they take a long time to manifest but they can and will when it is meant to be.
Being at the recording studio all day on the last day of June 2016 was more fun than I could have ever imagined it would be in my wildest dreams. We love the song and I am excited for you to hear it during this special edition of my show.
Whatever YOU dream of doing – let your Self do it. Just "showing up" for what you love gives you JOY.
By doing what YOU feel called to do you'll feel happier, you'll have more fun, and you can inspire the people who know you to go for their own dreams and Heart's Desires.
BELIEVE is available to download at CD Baby!!! Visit www.cdbaby.com and search for The DeNadors to download BELIEVE as an mp3.

During the show you'll get to hear our new song that was just "born" last week on 06/30/16. The title of the song is BELIEVE. We are excited about how amazing it sounds thanks to the musical magic and love our super talented friend Robert Berry put into the creation of it.

Click on the photo above to hear a replay of Live Your Music with Paul Miller.
Paul Miller is celebrating 50 years as a Student of the guitar and his 30th year as a Songwriter.
Paul's two great passions in life are Music and Fly Fishing.
His soon to be released CD — titled Mystic River — is a combination of vocals and instrumentals that use the voice of nature as the soundscape of life, as though it were a journey down a mystical river. The expected release for his new CD is Fall of 2016.
Paul Miller in the recording studio for his new album titled Mystic River and River Song which I played during today's show.
Stylistically Paul's music is written when the mood strikes, in his words, “A perfect example of Americana."
Paul says he has worked with the same musicians over the last 20 years. They include Deborah Winters on Vocals, Robert Powell on Guitar and Pedal Steel, and Ian Dogole on Percussion. The ‘Rivers’ project also includes two special guests, Paul McCandless on woodwinds and Dan Zemelman on Grand Piano.
Paul Miller's album Midnight Street
Paul was born in 1951 and was heavily influenced by early Rock 'N' Roll along with Rhythm and Blues.
As a Songwriter he writes about Love, Social Issues, Politics or anything else that his passion directs.
As an example, one of his favorite compositions is titled "American Dream " and it tackles the housing crisis and the collapse of the economy, which created a painful situation for many hard-working people in our country.
Paul believes that Music must be authentic and reflect the times that we live in. He has a need to express healing for the hard times that we go through with his music which is indeed an expression of his soul.
Today Paul and I talked about how he is living his music with the new album Mystic River which is scheduled to be released in Fall 2016.
During the show I played a beautiful song by Paul titled River Song. I love the song and am looking forward to his Mystic River album coming out later this year.
I enjoyed talking with Paul on my show today!! We talked about music, songwriting, and living your life as a journey on a river. I loved what he had to say and I'd love for you to hear what he said during today's show.

This summer it will be 50 years since I picked up the belief that I "should" stop singing. I am so thankful that our son Zander inspired me to sing with him in 1993. I am also thankful that my husband has been encouraging me to sing with him.
What I have learned is that we are never too old to listen to our Heart and allow it to guide us!
Music gives me joy. All of my life I've loved music. How do you feel about music? Does it add joy to your life? As you can see in the photo of my husband and I love to sing!
When I was eleven years old I got my first Beatles and Beach Boys albums. I loved to sing with my favorite records in my room. (Especially songs by the Beatles, Beach Boys, Kinks, Yardbirds, Turtles, and Herman's Hermits.) I remember singing while riding my horse and I also enjoyed singing for my family. I began to dream of being a singer!
Then, one summer, 50 years ago, after staying with my grandparents for a month at their home in Los Gatos, I overheard my grandmother telling my mom that I "should" forget about singing. My grandmother sounded so sure I "should" give up singing that I gave up even trying to sing. I believed that she thought I had a "bad" voice.
Looking back on the situation I realize that my grandmother wanted two things — she wanted me to be an artist and paint oil paintings and she wanted to keep me away from the Rock 'n Roll music I loved to hear and to sing.
During college I worked part-time in record stores because I loved music — even though I majored in art as grandma wanted me to do at the time. While working in the record store I met three members of a rock 'n roll band called HUSH. One of them, Robert Berry, became one of the most treasured friends I've ever had in my life. I loved to go watch and listen as he worked at a recording studio. I also loved to watch his band play. My joy came from listening to music and from watching my friends and other people who were living their music!
My husband, Dudley, has always loved music — it's his passion. (You can see his passion for music in the photos in this message.) Before I met him, Dudley started his own business, DeNador Design & Photography. I've enjoyed working with Dudley in his graphic design business for many years.
When I first met Dudley I was thankful that he was only doing music as a hobby because I knew the time and travel it takes to be on the road and perform in a rock 'n roll band!
When our son, Zander, was about three years old, I started to sing again — with him when we were alone in my car. We used to sing songs from the Disney movies "Aladdin" and "Lion King" and also the songs from the movie "The Little Mermaid" while driving around doing errands. After lots of practicing with Zander I got brave enough to sing with Zander when we were with Dudley — going on trips in our car. I was amazed when Dudley told me that I did a good job singing Jasmine's part in "A Whole New World" with Zander singing Aladdin's part of the song. It was FUN being able to sing with my boys in the car!!!
In 2003, ten years after I began to allow myself to enjoy singing again — we attended a family reunion, at my mom's home, in Shasta County. I was thrilled that Dudley and Zander helped me learn to sing the song "Perfect Day" by Hoku for the event. I learned that it takes lots of practice to sing — to remember the words, the way the music goes, and it was fun practicing singing while driving my car.
Then, for awhile, I went back to listening and watching as Dudley and Zander wrote their songs and had them recorded. It was exciting to watch and listen as their song ideas became reality!
Robert Berry, who is now a treasured friend to all three of us, has a recording studio in Campbell, California. He recorded Dudley and Zander's songs. Robert is a very talented musician and he added keyboards, bass guitar, drums, and backup vocals to the tracks with Dudley and Zander playing their guitars and singing.
Going to Robert’s recording studio to watch, to listen, and every once in awhile make a suggestion for lyrics — words that might work better — makes me feel fully alive and full of joy. I love being part of it all — even in tiny ways. I asked Dudley to write a song called "Holiday on Earth"as a tribute to Earl Nightingale and he created a wonderful song we love to hear.
I've been writing lyrics for songs to go with my book, The Art of Living a Life You Love. The first one is called "Imagine" and we've recorded it as a single. We're planning to record "Believe" this year.
There are more songs we've been working on and I am so excited to have them all recorded so you can hear them and let them uplift you, inspire you, and remind you to live your music.
Dudley and Zander have two albums of original songs. Both albums — and the single of our song "Imagine" — were recorded at SoundTek Studios. If you are curious, click on this link to hear The DeNadors on CD Baby.
You can also hear all of the songs on both albums plus the single of our song "Imagine" on Spotify. Just do a search for The DeNadors on Spotify and/or CD Baby and you'll find us.
We'd love to have you hear our songs and let us know which are your favorites. :-)
Robert Berry helps make music dreams come true. He has helped Dudley, Zander, and me — and many, many others — turn their music dreams into reality. I would like to say a big THANK YOU to our treasured friend, Robert Berry, for all he did to make these albums sound so great. Robert is a very talented musician and singer. To find out more about Robert and his music please visit his website at www.RobertBerry.com. On his website you will also find a link to his recording studio, SoundTek Studios.
Do you dream of making music? What do you dream of doing? What would you like to create? What do you feel inspired to share? What are your true Heart's Desires?
On my blog talk radio show Live Your Music I interview people who are living their music. You can hear all of the episodes of my show by clicking on the link.
Your "music" might be music and it can be whatever you feel you are meant to do. For example, my "music" includes being a Mom, hosting my Live Your Music radio show, being a Creative Life Coach, writing my book, and writing lyrics for songs and singing for the joy it give me and to inspire others to do what they feel called to do.
Do you feel you're meant to be a parent? A doctor? An author? A speaker? An actor? A dancer? A visual artist? A teacher? What gives you joy? What do you love to do?
What I know for sure is that every person on the planet has "music" they are here to play. It's why I host my radio show, it's why I became a Creative Life Coach, and it's why I wrote my book The Art of Living a Life You Love.
Here is what Abraham Maslow reminds us: “A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he be at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be.”
I am also thankful that Zander and Dudley and my friend Robert have encouraged me to keep singing.
Now Dudley and I are co-managers for West Coast Songwriters in San Rafael, California. We are having so much fun performing together. Each time I get a bit closer to believing in my dream of writing lyrics for songs and singing on stage with my husband, son, and our friends.
We all need to do what gives us joy. We all need to create whatever we feel inspired to create. It helps us love our life and enjoy our "Holiday on Earth."
Whether your "music" is actually music or something else you feel inspired to do or create — do it. We must each allow our “music” to flow freely from us while we are alive!
Please, everyone who is reading this message — Live Your Music!!!

For more information, and to get tickets, click on this link: www.fenixlive.com/
During the show I played a beautiful song titled Here In Our Dreams which was written and performed by Brett Boyd and Raj Ramayya and it's on their third Beautiful Losers CD. Brett and Raj wrote the song several years ago but it proves that great music is timeless.
Brett Boyd is a wonderful example of what can happen when you listen to your heart and have the courage to live your music. As Brett said, it's not always easy but the joy you feel – and can give to others – makes it well worthwhile to live the music you hear calling you.
Brett is also an example of how you can have a family, enjoy time with your family, and blend in plenty of time to enjoy playing music.

Dr. Michelle Millis Chappel is an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter and speaker with a PhD in psychology from Princeton.
After being voted “Most Inspirational Professor” at the University of California, Santa Cruz, she ditched academics to follow her dream to be a rock star. Since then she’s had top 10 and 20 radio singles in South Africa and the UK; a #1 hit on US college radio; 7 songs featured on ABC, HBO, Encore, and Showtime; and won 17 Billboard International Songwriting awards. She’s also been a finalist for “Best International Artist” in Australia twice (The MusicOz Awards).
Today we talked about inspiration to go for your dreams and encouragement to live your music in your own unique way. We also talked about how living your music can sometimes be done in a variety of ways that can overlap like a Venn diagram.
Michelle Chappel is a great example of what can happen when you listen to your heart and feel inspired to live your music. As we talked about today, fear and excitement can feel very similar so it depends on how you think of it. If you say to yourself, "Feel the Excitement…" it reminds you to focus on the excitement and that is how you start to feel.
Michelle's new CD, Call Me Crazy, is being released soon and she is having a CD release party in Felton, California on June 5, 2016. She has more radio interviews and performances planned for June and she will be giving a talk titled What Successful Women Do Differently on June 28, 2016 in Santa Cruz, California.
You can get all of the details on Michelle's performances and her upcoming talks on her website by clicking here.

Robert Berry was my guest for Live Your Music this week.
Robert Berry Remembering Keith Emerson is the title of this week's show. Whether you knew Keith or Emerson, Lake & Palmer, I'd love for you to hear what Robert has to say during this show.
To hear the podcast recording of this week's show, with Robert Berry as my guest, please click here.
Click on the photo above to hear a replay of Live Your Music with Robert Berry Remembering Keith Emerson.
The show focuses on Robert's memories of getting a call from Carl Palmer, going to England, and how excited he was to meet Keith Emerson for the first time. Robert also talked about what Keith was like, what it was like to record an album with him, perform with him, and what he was like as a person and a long-time friend.
Keith Emerson was best known as the awesome keyboard player of the progressive rock group Emerson, Lake & Palmer. You may remember famous songs such as Lucky Man, Fanfare for the Common Man, Hoedown or Welcome Back My Friends to the Show that Never Ends. This incredible trio had a unique, complex, symphonic quality largely due Keith Emerson who is still regarded as one of the most talented rock keyboard players of all time. However, during the last part of the 80's he was in a band called "3" with Robert Berry, which was also known as Emerson, Berry, Palmer. I love their album To The Power of Three and the live album from a show in 1988 which came out last year.
Following are some photos of Keith from the early days and a more recent picture of him as well.
I loved hearing what Robert had to say about Keith. I've admired Keith Emerson as an amazing keyboard player for many years and loved hearing Robert talk about what Keith was like and what is was like to play with him and Carl Palmer.
During the show I played a beautiful new song titled OUR BOND which is a song Robert wrote as a tribute to Keith Emerson. When you listen to the show, you'll also hear Robert tell fun stories of what it was like to perform with Keith and have him as a long-time friend.
Robert Berry is a Grammy nominated recording artist, singer, songwriter, producer, and performing musician. He was featured on an album titled "3" with Keith Emerson & Carl Palmer; he has toured with Ambrosia; and has a long running project - Alliance - with members of Boston, Sammy Hagar, Night Ranger, and has also performed with The Tubes, Greg Kihn and has a wonderful holiday rock group called December People. Robert is also the owner of Soundtek Studios in Campbell, California.

If you've never heard Anita's amazing story you can read about it in her book Dying to Be Me which is available on Amazon.

Anita Moorjani had this to say about Paul's music: "I Love Your Music! I Bought All The Albums and Listen To Them Over and Over Again! Thank You For Sharing Your Music With The World!"
Paul Luftenegger and Anita Moorjani
I feel lucky to have met Anita Moorjani in person, at a couple of Hay House I Can Do It conferences, when she spoke onstage with Dr. Wayne Dyer. Anita and her story remind us all of the importance of loving yourself like your life depends on it because, as she says, it does depend on it.
Paul Luftenegger is living his music and by doing it he's expanding the love in our world. I'm glad to have had him as a guest on my Live Your Music show. Paul and his music inspire me.

Carl Stedmond was my guest for Live Your Music today and we talked about the various ways he is living his music. Carl has a new music CD for children – and for all of us who have a "kid" inside of us. During the show I played a "montage" of four songs which are produced with state-of-the-art 432hz frequency. I love the songs and would love for you to hear them on the show.
To hear the podcast recording of today's show with Carl Stedmond as my guest, please click here.
Click on the photo above to hear a replay of Live Your Music with Carl Stedmond, as my guest.
Carl Stedmond is an inspirational and motivational speaker, a singer songwriter, and a martial arts instructor who "serves" as a teacher of PEACE and Self Empowerment.
Carl was born in Merseyside England in a small town next to Liverpool. It seems Carl was born to SELF EMPOWER and then help others do the same. In a wheelchair from the age of eight until eleven (Perthes Dis-ease) a rare hip disorder did not stop him from starting a long hard path of Shotokan karate.
Carl's teaching methods have changed greatly since he had a huge shift in consciousness in 2005 and changed the name of his club from the Liverpool School of Martial Arts to The Harmony Center.
Carl became a singer and songwriter at the age of 46. With his unique voice he is often compared to Rod Stewart and does tributes to the Legendary rocker.
Carl recorded his first music CD, in 2008 and he tours as a "one man" show, telling his life story through his songs.
One show he is very proud of was a Peace Concert where he opened for the famous scientist Dr. Masaru Emoto who Carl gives a lot of credit for his own SHIFT in consciousness.
Carl's new CD, THE GREATEST ME which was produced and composed with Peter Nelson, is for children and the songs were created with state-of-the-art 432hz frequency which Carl explained during the show can be used to enhance music for meditation and for feelings of happiness and relaxation.
Carl will tell you that his intention is to bring people together. No matter where you come from, what you do, or what faith you believe in, he believes we all have a CHAMPION inside and we all have a story. He just wants to inspire you to go for YOUR dreams....and never EVER give up.
To find out more about Carl Stedmond, and his music, please visit his website: www.CarlStedmond.com
We had fun talking about Carl's new children's CD, his passion path of development in Karate and as a singer songwriter who is using his talents and gifts to empower children – as well as people of all ages to be happy and spread happiness. Carl inspires me and I feel certain he'll inspire you too so I hope you'll take 30 minutes to listen to the replay of the show.
I'd love for you to listen to the show and to share it with your family and friends!
If you've missed any of my shows, you can listen to replays of Live Your Music by clicking here.
Please forward this message to your family and friends so they can benefit from listening to Carl's message and his new songs!

This week, in honor of Dr. Wayne Dyer, I've decided to share links for shows I've done with Wayne Dyer's daughters Skye Dyer and Serena Dyer Pisoni, and Hay House authors Alex Woodard, Dave Carroll, and Michael J. Chase. Each of them is an example of living your music and they are each making the world a better place in their own ways.
One of the things Wayne Dyer did that I greatly appreciated is that he would introduce us to new and inspiring authors, musicians, and singers.
Today, in my eNewsletter, you'll find links for interviews I've done with these inspiring authors including Serena Dyer Pisoni and also links for interviews I've done with Wayne Dyer's daughter Skye who's a singer songwriter. I've also included links to the albums and books so you can get them at amazon by clicking on the covers of the CDs and books in this newsletter.
