February
is a great time to take a look at what we believe in the various areas
of life. If there are things you want to do that you've had a hard time
with in the past, perhaps it's time to take a look at what you believe.
What
I've discovered is that being part of a group, and/or having a life
coach, can help you change what you believe. A coach or group can
inspire you to keep moving forward, stay accountable, and achieve your
goals.
As an example, I've been a member of Weight Watchers since April 2007. Before joining it was hard for me to believe it was possible for me to shed the weight I had put on over the years. Two people told me about what they had learned while going to the meetings. I wondered if maybe going to Weight Watchers could help. It sounded interesting so I decided I would be willing try going to one meeting and see if I liked it.
I'll always remember how I felt that first day. I sat in my car looking at the sign and wondering what in the world I was doing there. But I had promised three people I would go to at least one meeting. The leader of the meeting was inspiring. She had shed over 100 lbs. and had kept it off for years. She helped me believe that perhaps I could do it. I am so glad I decided to give it a try!
Why
does it work? It keeps you accountable and inspires you to keep on
track each week. A large part of why it works is because of the support
given by the leaders and the others members. Going to the meetings is
inspiring. Each meeting is full of ideas and inspiration not only from
the leader, but from the people who attend the meetings. As an example, I've been a member of Weight Watchers since April 2007. Jennifer
Hudson is in many of the current ads for WW and she looks amazing. She
is an inspiration in so many ways. A few nights ago we saw her sing on
TV. She looked and sounded beautiful. Seeing what Jennifer has
accomplished reminds us of the power of what we believe.
Attending
the meetings helps us make healthier choices, gives us ideas of foods
to try, and inspires us to move more too. Being there reminds us that we
can change what we believe is true and by changing what we believe we
can create amazing results. I am thankful for the new, empowering
beliefs that have helped me look and feel so much better.

Remember Barbara Sher's words above, "Isolation is a dream killer."
Being part of an inspirational group, having a coach, and/or friends
who believe you can do it, can make the difference in whether you
believe you can do it.
What do you believe is possible for you? As Henry Ford once said, "If you believe you can, or if you believe you can't, you're right!" Is it time to replace some of your old beliefs with new empowering beliefs? An inspirational group and/or a life coach will keep you accountable and help you achieve your goals.
